Scholarship Opportunities

BSA Organizational Development is currently accepting applications for two different scholarships to help graduating high school seniors further their education. More information about each scholarship is outlined below.

BSA Culture of Community Scholarship

Purpose: The BSA Culture of Community Scholarship Fund was established to award scholarships to college-bound high school seniors in Amarillo ISD, Canyon ISD, River Road ISD, Highland Park ISD, and Bushland ISD schools based on demonstrated academic achievement, community involvement, and motivation. A scholarship may be awarded to a student at each of the following schools: Amarillo High School, Bushland High School, Canyon High School, Caprock High School, Highland Park High School, Palo Duro High School, Randall High School, River Road High School, and Tascosa High School.

Criteria: The potential recipients must be graduating seniors attending one of the nine high schools in the Amarillo and Canyon area. Recipients must intend to continue their education at an accredited 2-year or 4-year college or university during the fall semester immediately following high school graduation. Recipients have the choice of which field of study they wish to major in.

Guidelines: Scholarships will be awarded in August. Students must be enrolled as a full-time student.

Amount: The scholarship awarded will be a maximum of $500.

Deadline: The application deadline is February 28, 2017. After this date, applications will no longer be accepted.

Renewal process: This scholarship is not renewable. Only high school seniors intending to enroll in an accredited college or university are eligible to apply. Previous scholarship recipients cannot re-apply.

BSA Family Scholarship

PurposeThe BSA Family Scholarship Fund was established to award a scholarship to a college-bound high school senior who has a parent employed at BSA Health System based on demonstrated academic achievement, community involvement, and motivation. A maximum of one scholarship will be awarded to the most qualified applicant.

CriteriaThe potential recipient must be a graduating senior and the child or stepchild of a BSA employee. The recipient must intend to continue their education at an accredited 2-year or 4-year college or university during the fall semester immediately following high school graduation.

GuidelinesThe scholarships will be renewable each semester of their undergraduate education at the college they have selected. The funds will be sent to the financial aid office each semester toward the recipient’s school account. Students must be enrolled as a full-time student.

AmountThe scholarship may be renewed for up to a total of eight semesters at $400 per semester.

DeadlineThe application deadline is February 28th, 2017. After this date, applications will no longer be accepted. Only high school seniors intending to enroll in an accredited college or university are eligible to apply.

Renewal ProcessThis scholarship is renewable for up to eight semesters. In order for the recipient to receive the renewable funds, at the end of each semester they must send an official copy of their transcript to DeLynn Steele in Organizational Development by mail. Students must obtain a GPA of 2.5 or higher to qualify for the renewal. Previous scholarship recipients cannot re-apply.
