Two local leading hospice services merge
Hospice Care of the Southwest and BSA Hospice Merge

Amarillo---Officials at BSA Hospice and Hospice Care of the Southwest have announced the merger of the two services effective April 1, 2016.  The newly merged entity will be named BSA Hospice of the Southwest.

Hospice Care of the Southwest will operate the merged hospice and BSA will remain as a partner.  BSA Hospice employees will transition to positions within BSA Hospice of the Southwest while others have elected to take open positions within the BSA system or other positions in the community.

Ronnie Atkins, Administrator of Hospice Care of the Southwest said, “Hospice Care of the Southwest is a locally owned and operated hospice.  We have taken care of over 3500 patients and families in the last eleven years.   Our management team has worked together for almost thirty years and actually began our hospice career at St Anthony’s Hospice with Sister Olivia and Dr. Gerald Holman.  We are excited to combine the expertise of both hospices to make a positive difference in the lives of our patients, their families and our community by providing quality Hospice Care with Compassion and Experience. “

Bob Williams, president and CEO of BSA Health System said, “The BSA Hospice was established by Sister Olivia Prendergast in 1980 and it became the first program in the Texas Panhandle dedicated to the care of terminally ill patients.  Our two agencies are striving to make the transition process smooth for our staff and our patients and their families.  BSA Health System understands the importance of quality hospice care. Hospice Care of the Southwest has proven that they provide an excellent, compassionate service and we look forward to being their partner.  We understand that patients have a choice when it comes to selecting a hospice provider and we sincerely hope that patients will choose BSA Hospice of the Southwest.”
